WHAT IF? ~

Oh my goodness! Wouldn’t this be the funniest thing ever?? If I ever write fiction I am SO going to do this.  I can think of a few authors in print right now that this would work for already.  George R. R. Martin of Game of Thrones,  Matthew Reilly of  the “Scarecrow” series fame,  Clive Cussler,  and perhaps even some of the YA dystopian novels that are coming out now would be fun to do this way.  Couldn’t you just imagine ? You’ve seen how rabid some of the fans of these YA books are ! “Oh my particular set is better!”   “No! My particular genre is better!!”  And then , if the ENDINGS were different and they didn’t know?!? HAHAHAHAAAA! Let the madness ensue.  To be a fly on the wall at some of THOSE discussions.  That would be fun.  What do you think? If you could write an alternate ending for any book you’ve read , what book would it be, and what ending would you write?

  1. Gerrold had two endings in one of his books. Wrote one, picked it up years later and wrote a different ending. Quite recommended.

(starships in Space! but mostly psychological science fiction)

  2. 🙂 That sounds like the movie CLUE, which I think was presented in theaters with different endings. You wouldn’t know which ending you would get. (This might be an urban legend though. Don’t trust me on this.)

    • I had never heard that about the movie CLUE! That would be really interesting, wouldn’t it, to have gone to a movie theatre , seen a movie end one way, and have some other group of people swear it ended another? 🙂

      • Now I need to research if what I’m saying is true. I do know that if you get the DVD, they do all of the endings in a row, with the final ending being the “correct” one.

      • Boom. This is from the Wikipedia entry on Clue: In keeping with the nature of the board game, in theatrical release the movie was shown with one of three possible endings, with different theaters receiving each ending. In the film’s home video release, all three endings were included.

      • Cool Beans!! I SO have to get the DVD now. I had seen the movie on the cloo!network on Directv , but it of course didn’t offer alternate endings, and it doesn’t tell you WHICH ending you’re getting on television . Thanks for the neat info! 😀
